India's MRPL Invests $375 Million to Build Polypropylene Unit

Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL; Mangalore, India), a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corp. (ONGC; New Delhi) says that the board of directors of ONGC has approved an investment proposal by MRPL to install a previously announced 440,000-m.t./year polypropylene (PP) unit, which would be integrated with MRPL’s refinery complex at Mangalore. MRPL plans to invest about Rs.18.03 billion ($375 million) to build the PP plant, which is expected to become operational in 2012.
