Fire at Russian PP Plant Kills Three

A fire broke out at a polypropylene (PP) plant at Budyennovsk, Russia on April 4 killing three workers and injuring a further three. The plant is operated by OOO Stavrolen, part of Lukoil-Neftekhim (Moscow), a subsidiary of energy company Lukoil (Moscow). The accident occurred near a polymerization reactor and was promptly brought under control, Lukoil says. There were no leakages or spills of hazardous substances, the company adds. An investigation is underway into the causes of the accident. Production of PP at the Budyennovsk plant is temporarily suspended...
