Markets :: Plastics :: Polypropylene Basell to Restart Texas PP Unit12:43 PM MDT | July 25, 2007 | Peck Hwee Sim Basell says it will restart a 220,000-m.t./year polypropylene (PP) unit at Bayport, TX by second-quarter 2008. The unit was idled in 2001 because of oversupply and weak demand. It will be fully refurbished and upgraded, the company says. The additional output is needed to meet demand, Basell says. Basell currently operates two Speriphol-process PP plants at Bayport with combined capacity of 530,000 m.t./year.
