Versalis to close LDPE plant at Gela

Versalis (Milan), an ENI (Rome) subsidiary, will close a 215,000-m.t./year low-density polyethylene (LDPE) production unit at Gela, Italy, the company announced during its second-quarter results analyst briefing. The company announced earlier this year the closure of a 135,000-m.t./year linear low-density polyethylene unit at Priolo, Italy. Gela and Priolo are both on the island of Sicily. The closures, which will take place over the next few months, represent a 23% reduction in Versalis's overall polyethylene (PE) capacity. Versalis also has PE production sites...
