Markets :: Plastics :: Polyethylene Sasol picks PE route for Lake Charles, eyes other products11:28 AM MDT | March 19, 2013 | —Natasha Alperowicz Sasol North America has selected Univation’s Unipol polyethylene (PE) technology for a 450,000-m.t./year plant to be built as part of a previously announced $5–7 billion ethane cracker complex at Lake Charles, LA. The swing PE facility will be designed to produce linear low- and/or high-density polyethylene, (LLDPE/HDPE), including metallocene LLDPE. It will be the second Unipol PE-process plant for Sasol and its affiliates. The first has been in operation at Sasolburg, South Africa, since 1983.
