Nova to Expand PE; Eyes New Plant in Alberta

Nova Chemicals says it will raise polyethylene (PE) capacity at Joffre, AB by 150 million lbs/year over the next two years, and is considering building a new world-scale PE plant at the site. Nova says it raised output at its Joffre gas-phase PE reactor by 100 million lbs/year last year, and expects to raise it a further 50 million lbs/year this year, for a total capacity of 1.45 billions lbs/year, through improved operating procedures and some new catalyst technology.
