LyondellBasell Extends HDPE Production at Chocolate Bayou

LyondellBasell says it will continue the production of high density polyethylene (HDPE) at its Chocolate Bayou plant near Alvin, TX until September 30, 2009. The company had announced last month that the facility will cease production by July 31, 2009, due to declining demand and diminishing export opportunities. Extending operations by up to two months will provide additional time for the company to transition customers to other manufacturing plants, LyondellBasell says.
