Markets :: Plastics :: Polyethylene BASF Completes Expansion of Ecoflex Biodegradable Polyester Plant1:52 AM MST | February 1, 2011 | Natasha Alperowicz BASF has added 60,000 m.t./year capacity at its Ludwigshafen based Ecoflex biodegradable polyester plant bringing the total to 74,000 m.t./year. BASF is, at the same time, ramping up a compounding Ecovio plant. Ecovio is a derivative of Ecoflex and contains up to 75% of renewable raw materials. The larger capacities will enhance BASF's position and meet customer needs more effectively, says Wolfgang Hapke, president/perfomance polymers division.
