Mitsui Chemicals, Idemitsu to Rationalize Chiba Complex; Suspend PP, HDPE Units

Mitsui Chemicals announced today that it plans to restructure its petrochemical operations at the Chiba, Japan, manufacturing complex “to flexibly and effectively manage the Chiba Chemicals Manufacturing partnership” with Idemitsu Kosan. The two companies formed a 50-50 alliance in 2010 by combining Mitsui Chemicals' 553,000-m.t./year cracker with Idemitsu's 374,000 m.t./year ethylene plant.
