Wellman Serves Eastman with PET Patent Infringement Suit

Wellman has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Eastman Chemical charging that Eastman has violated two Wellman patents covering titanium-catalyzed polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resins and the preforms made from titanium-catalyzed PET resins. The suit alleges that Eastman’s ParaStar brand resins, which are made from the company’s IntegRex process, violates Wellman’s patent on titanium-catalyzed PET production.
