Indorama to Build PET Plant in Alabama

Indorama Polymers’ (Bangkok) AlphaPet has chosen to build its previously announced $140-million polyethylene terephtlate (PET) plant at Decatur, AL and has bumped up capacity to 432,000-m.t./year, from the 420,000 m.t./year initially planned. The plant is scheduled for completion by the end of 2008 (CW, May 30/June 6, p. 4). BP’s para-xylene/purified terephthalic acid (PTA) facility adjacent to the site will supply PTA to the new plant, Indorama says.
