Higher Volumes and Selling Prices Lift Huntsman's Profits

Huntsman says its third quarter sales and profits rose on higher volumes and selling price hikes. Sales and profits rose across all business segments, except in polyurethanes where earnings fell because of higher raw material and manufacturing costs.  Net income was $55 million (23 cts/share), compared to a loss of $68 million. Adjusted net income was $83 million (34 cts/share), compared to $48 million in the year-ago period.
