BASF Likely to Delay Chongqing MDI Project Due to Declining Market

BASF says it is committed to a previously announced grassroots methylene di-para-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) project at Chongqing, China but that the plant's completion will likely be delayed. "We expect the global MDI market to decline in 2009, and this new situation needs to be reflected in the planning process for our MDI project in Chongqing," says Martin Brudermueller, BASF board member with responsibility for Asia and the plastics segment.
