Praxair starts up oxygen supply at Uruguay pulp mill

Praxair announced today that is has started up a 125-m.t./day noncryogenic vaccum-pressure-swing adsorption plant at the Montes del Plata pulp mill at Punta Pereira, Uruguay. Under a long-term contract, Praxair will supply gaseous oxygen to the mill. Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. In response to growing environmental regulation, pulp mills are eliminating chemicals in the bleaching process, Praxair says.
