Praxair starts up ASU in India

Praxair says it has started up the first of two previously announced 1,250-m.t./day air separation units (ASUs) at Steel Authority of India Ltd.’s (SAIL; New Delhi) Bhilai, India, facility. The plant will supply gaseous oxygen, nitrogen, and argon under a long-term contract to support SAIL's expansion activities, Praxair says. This ASU project at Bhilai was announced in 2010, and was originally expected to become operational in 2012, but it has been delayed.
