Praxair Third-Quarter Earnings Up 14% on Strong Manufacturing, Chemicals Demand

“We are continuing to see solid growth in all geographies with the exception of Europe,” says Praxair chairman and CEO Steve Angel. Praxair reported third-quarter net income of $429 million, 14% above the year-ago quarter. Sales were $2.9 billion, 14% above the previous-year quarter. Chemical sector sales grew 14% year-over-year, and 3% sequentially from second-quarter 2011. Sequential growth in North America chemicals was partly offset by softening in Europe, Praxair says....
