Linde's Earnings Beat Estimates; Higher Profits and Sales Forecast for 2012

Linde reported a 4% increase in net profits in the fourth quarter of 2011 compared with the corresponding period of 2010, to €318 million on sales up 3%, to €3.6 billion. Operating profits increased almost 9% year on year in the fourth quarter, to €847 million. The net-profit figure beat analysts' estimates of about €290 million and the operating-profit figure beat analysts' forecasts of €810 million-€820 million.
