Braskem Inks Gases Supply Agreement for PVC Plant

White Martins, the Brazilian subsidiary of Praxair, says it has inked a 15-year nitrogen and oxygen supply agreement with Braskem. White Martins will build and operate a 200 tons/day cryogenic air separation plant at Braskem’s polyvinyl chloride (PVC) unit at Alagoas, Brazil, which is currently undergoing an expansion project. The PVC plant involves a R$1-billion ($633 million) investment—the largest investment made by Braskem in a single project—and will have the capacity to produce about 200,000 m.t./year of PVC.
