Airgas to Build Air Separation Unit for Hemlock Semiconductor

Airgas says it has signed a long-term supply agreement with Hemlock Semiconductor (Hemlock, MI) to build an air separation unit at Hemlock’s $1.2-billion polysilicon manufacturing facility at Clarksville, TN. The unit will produce nitrogen and other atmospheric gases for Hemlock and the merchant market in the region. Construction is expected to be completed in 2012, Airgas says.   Hemlock Semiconductor is Dow Corning’s majority-owned joint venture.
