Air Products to Pay Civil Penalty for Hazardous Waste Violation

Air Products has agreed to pay $1.5 million in civil penalties stemming from hazardous waste violations at the company's Pasadena, Texas facilities. The agreement with U.S. EPA and the Justice Department settles a violation of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) in which Air Products transferred spent acid to a neighboring fertilizer plant. The neighboring facility, owned by Agrifos, used the spent acid to make a land-applied fertilizer.
