New GM Rice Strains Needed to Withstand Rising Temperatures

Researchers at the University of California (San Diego) have called for the development of new genetically modified (GM) strains of rice to withstand increasing temperatures in Asia, which are reducing rice yields.   A study carried out by the researchers at 227 rice farms across six Asian countries shows that rising temperatures over the last 25 years have reduced the rice yield by 10%.
