Bayer CropScience to Acquire Watermelon and Melon Seed Business of U.S. Firm

Bayer CropScience, a subgroup of Bayer, says it has agreed to acquire the watermelon and melon seeds business of privately owned seed company Abbott & Cobb (Feasterville, PA). The deal is expected to strengthen the vegetable seeds business of Bayer CropScience through Abbott & Cobb's "robust" watermelon market position in the U.S. and its growing business in Mexico, Australia, and Asia, Bayer says.
