U.S. FDA to Establish Pharmaceutical Inspection Offices in China, EU Plans New Measures Against Counterfeit Drugs

FDA has disclosed that it is taking steps to set up quality offices in China for inspecting foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices in the country. The move follows numerous health issues associated with foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals suspected to have been imported into the U.S. from China in recent months. Separately, the European Commission has begun a consultation exercise in which it is inviting ideas from the public on how best to amend existing regulations to ensure the safe manufacture, trade and distribution of active pharmaceutical...
