Sun Pharma to close Detroit plant

Sun Pharma (Mumbai), India’s major pharmaceuticals player, said today that it is closing its Detroit manufacturing plant as part of a consolidation. The company has not said how many people will lose their jobs as a result, but local press reports say that 178 employees will be laid off. The plant was last year inspected by FDA.   Sun Pharma says it has notified the Workforce Development Agency for Michigan about its decision to cease manufacturing operations at the facility, operated by subsidiary Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories, and close the...
