Merck & Co. to Acquire Biologics Activities of Avecia

Pharmaceuticals giant Merck & Co. says it has agreed to purchase the contract biologic drugs manufacturing activities of Avecia (Tees Valley, U.K.). Financial details were not disclosed. Avecia Biologics is a contract manufacturing organization with specific expertise in microbial-derived biologics.
