Cambrex Records Rise in Profits and Sales

Cambrex (East Rutherford, NJ) reported a 61% increase in net profits fro the first quarter ended March 31, 2011, to $2.7 million, compared with the year-ago period, on net sales up 10%, to $61.3 million. The rise in sales is primarily due to higher sales of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) to a customer who resolved their supply chain disruption which had reduced Cambrex's sales volumes in the first quarter of 2010; higher volumes of generic APIs; and increased volumes for a recently approved product, Cambrex says.
