CPhI: Merck KGaA to Add Pharma Production Capacity, Mulls China Facility

Merck KGaA says its Pharma Raw Materials unit is expanding its activities and has divided the business, earlier this month, into two divisions; biopharma tools, and classical pharma raw materials. The Pharma Raw Materials unit will invest about €8.5 million ($12.7 million) in a new manufacturing facility for process solutions to make biopharmaceuticals at Darmstadt, Germany, and is also setting up a major biopharma R&D facility in the U.S., Merck tells CW.
