BASF will grow its fine chemicals business “primarily in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals,” says Peter Oakley, board member/agchems and fine chemicals. Orgamol, which BASF acquired more than one year ago, will be the business model, rather than BASF’s own contract manufacturing model, he says. “We will only do active pharmaceutical ingredients for pharma companies, which have patent protected products, under contract manufacturing,” he says.
