Novozymes to Buy Merck KGaA's Crop BioScience Business for $275 Million

Enzymes technology firm Novozymes has agreed to buy Merck KGaA’s (Darmstadt, Germany) Crop BioScience business for $275 million. The firm’s say they expect to complete the transaction at the beginning of 2011.   The deal makes Novozymes “a major player in sustainable solutions for the agricultural biologicals industry,” Novozymes says.   Merck’s Crop BioScience business researches, develops and commercializes technologies used to improve plant health and crop yields.
