BASF's Amadea Becomes Hot Potato

BASF says it has informed the European Commission that it found “extremely small” quantities of its Amadea genetically engineered potato plants – which have yet to be approved for cultivation in the European Union (EU) - growing in fields in northern Sweden. BASF submitted its application for regulatory approval of Amadea in the EU in the past week.   The company says it discovered Amadea plants growing in the field in Sweden among its Amflora genetically engineered potato fields, which have already been approved, at the end of August.
