United Phosphorus Buys Agchem Firm in Argentina

United Phosphorus Ltd. (UPL; Mumbai), India’s biggest agchem company, says it has acquired 100% of crop protection firm Icona and Icona San Luis (Buenos Aires), for $10 million. The purchase was carried out by UPL’s U.K. subsidiary. The agreement includes purchase of all stocks, product registrations, manufacturing sites, and other property rights of Icona. Buying Icona gives UPL the opportunity to expand its presence in Argentina, UPL says. The company has a presence in the country through its 2005 acquisition of agchem firm Reposo (Buenos Aires)...
