U.S. Consumer Demand Blooms

U.S. demand for home and garden pesticides is expected to grow 4.8%/year, valued at $1.7 billion by 2011, says a recent study by The Freedonia Group (Cleveland). The home and garden pesticides sector, excluding commercial pesticide treatments in residential setting, accounts for roughly 20% of the overall formulated pesticide market, Freedonia says. Pesticides include insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides. Insecticides are the largest pesticide category, growing at 5%/year, Freedonia says (chart).
