Strong Crop-Protection Markets Boost Syngenta's Third-Quarter Sales

Syngenta posted a 21% increase in sales for the third quarter of 2011 compared with the same period of last year, to $2.7 billion. Third-quarter sales by the company's crop protection business rose 23% year on year, to $2.2 billion and sales by its seeds business grew 13%, to $500 million. Revenues grew across most product lines and regions. Volumes increased 13%, the sixth consecutive quarter of double-digit volume growth, and prices rose 3%. Earnings were not disclosed.
