Reports: Monsanto held talks to acquire Syngenta

Monsanto has held informal talks with Syngenta in recent months, offering a friendly takeover of Syngenta, according to a Bloomberg report. Such a deal, which would have allowed Monsanto to redomicile to Switzerland in a tax inversion strategy, would have created the largest agricultural technology company and most likely been worth more than $40 billion, the reports say.
