PotashCorp to Further Reduce Production

PotashCorp says it plans to reduce potash production by an additional 0.8 million m.t., bringing its total reduction in production in 2009 to 4.7 million m.t., and to 5.5 million m.t. since August 2008. The cut in production is due to the extremely slow U.S. spring season and extended negotiations with overseas buyers. The company says that with the world’s soils and supply chain nearing depletion after almost a year of deferral, it expects demand to return in the second half of 2009 as Brazil approaches its major application season, and as India and China...
