GM Crop Area Grows 8% to 160 Million Ha, Checks 19 Million m.t./year of Emissions

Genetically Modified (GM) crops were grown over an area of 160 million hectares in 2011, an 8% increase compared with 2010, according to a report by the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA; Manila), a not-for-profit international organization promoting the use of GM technology.
