European Commission restricts use of BASF insecticide

The European Commission (Brussels) has decided to restrict the use of BASF's fipronil, an insecticide, as part of measures to protect the health of bees, the commission announced today. The decision for a two-year restriction on the insecticide was backed by EU member state experts meeting today in the EU's standing committee on the food chain and animal health.
