EPA Denies Environmental Group Petition to Ban 2,4-D

EPA announced yesterday that it has denied a petition from the Natural Resources Defence Council’s (NRDC) asking the agency to cancel product registrations and revoke all food tolerances for the widely used herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D). NRDC petitioned EPA in November of 2008 to ban 2,4-D, citing studies linking exposure to adverse health effects and ecological damage.
