Makhteshim's first-quarter net profit up 1%

Generic pesticide producer Makhteshim Agan (Tel Aviv) says its first-quarter net income rose 1%, to $90.2 million from $89.3 million, during the same quarter last year. Ebitda went up 3.3%, from $163.2 million in the first quarter of 2012 to $168.5 million during the first quarter this year. Sales, meanwhile, increased by 7%, to $885.4 million during the first quarter of 2013 compared with $828 million in the same quarter the year prior.
