Rentech Nitrogen acquires Texas-based ammonium sulfate producer

Rentech says its subsidiary Rentech Nitrogen has signed an agreement to acquire Agrifos Holdings (Pasadena, TX), for $158 million. Agrifos produces primarily ammonium sulfate fertilizer and owns and operates a plant at Pasadena, TX. The deal is expected to close within a week. Rentech Nitrogen will distribute the cash per unit to its unit holders beginning in 2013, when the deal is expected to close.
