Markets :: Engineering Plastics :: Thermoplastic polyester Asahi Kasei to Stop Permanently Production of Polyester and Monofilament12:40 PM MDT | March 31, 2009 | Deepti Ramesh Asahi Kasei Fibers (AKF), an Asahi Kasei subsidiary, says it will stop in-house production of polyester and monofilament, and will close its manufacturing plants for these products located at Nobeoka, Japan by the end of September 2009, due to poor profitability. Following the closure of the polyester plant, AKF will transfer production of its main specialty polyester yarns to Teijin Fibers (Osaka) and the sale of other polyester yarns and products that are not transferred to Teijin Fibers will cease by the end of March 2010, Asahi Kasei says.
