Sabic has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sinopec to build jointly a polycarbonate (PC) plant at Tianjin, China. The new plant will form part of Sinopec Sabic Tianjin Petrochemical Co. (SSTPC), a 50-50 joint venture between Sabic and Sinopec at Tianjin. Sabic announced the PC project at the Chinaplas 2011 show, held earlier this month at Guangzhou, China. The 260,000-m.t./year PC plant will require a total investment of more than $1 billion, says Mohamed Al Mady, vice chairman and CEO of Sabic. The plant...
