The proposal, tacked on to a pending FDA Food Safety Modernization bill, would also require the FDA to issue a revised safety assessment on the plasticizer by December 1, 2012. Feinstein says the amendment cleared a procedural hurdle when the Senate voted 74-25 to begin debate on the bill.
