The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC; Washington) petitioned FDA in 2008 seeking restrictions on BPA in packaging, containers and any material likely to come in contact with food. Legally, FDA had 180 days to respond and NRDC filed suit in 2010 to set a deadline for the response. Industry says the deadline is a routine agreement by parties in a lawsuit, and does not indicate FDA plans any changes to its policy on BPA. “A...
