FDA Misses Target Date for BPA Review; But Announcement Due ‘Soon’

The FDA has missed its November 30 target date for a reassessment of bisphenol A’s (BPA) safety in food contact materials, but says it “will have an announcement soon.” It is as yet unclear if FDA’s announcement will be simply a request for more time to conduct the review, but industry and environmental sources say they do not expect a protracted delay.
