Deadline Nears for Decision on California BPA Ban

California’s state Assembly has a statutory deadline of September 11 to vote on a bill banning bisphenol A (BPA) in certain children’s products, but lack of movement so far may indicate the Assembly does not have the votes to pass it, industry executives say. The “Toxin-Free Infant and Toddlers Act Safe Toddlers Act,” introduced by Senator Fran Pavley (D., Santa Monica), would prohibit manufacturers using containers made with BPA if the products sold are intended for children three years of age or younger and take effect in 2011.
