California Assembly Rejects Two Bills Banning Chemicals

California’s Assembly rejected one bill that would ban bisphenol a (BPA) in products intended for children under the age of three, and another bill that would ban perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) in food packaging materials. However, Assembly lawmakers left the door open for the bills to be taken up for reconsideration today or later this week, sources say. The bills also could be amended and put forward for another vote before the state’s legislative session ends Friday. The chemical industry has investing in a statewide campaign to kill both bills...
