Bayer MaterialScience to Cut Staff Hours as Orders Decline

Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) says it is holding talks with employee representatives on enforced part-time working, in response to a sharp decline in orders and "unsatisfactory capacity utilization" rates. The talks, which have started on Monday, are expected to lead to 1,500 employees being affected at BMS's plants in Germany, including at the company's manufacturing sites at Leverkusen, Dormage, and Krefeld-Uerdingen, from February; and Brunsbuettel from May.
