Markets :: Engineering Plastics :: Polycarbonate Bayer Delays Polycarbonate Start Up in China …10:38 AM MDT | August 1, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) says it has delayed completion of the second 100,000-m.t./year polycarbonate (PC) production line it is building at Caojing, China, near Shanghai. The second line was expected to be completed in August this year but, because of unavailability of equipment, commissioning will be delayed until the end of the first quarter of 2008 or beyond that, Patrick Thomas, CEO of BMS, says. Chinese contractors working on the plant have paid BMS an undisclosed penalty for the delay, Thomas says. BMS completed the first PC line at Caojing last year...
