Formosa Builds Nylon-6 Plant in Vietnam

Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp. (FCFC; Taipei) is building a 47,000-m.t./year nylon-6 plant in Vietnam using Uhde Inventa-Fischer technology. The plant will start up next year and provide product for the textile industry. Formosa says it has relocated its textile manufacturing equipment from Taiwan to Vietnam, to take advantage of lower labor costs, and that Vietnam will be the group’s Asian hub for textile and fiber production.
